Jasen & Melissa Berkowitz (Team Berky)Growing up in southern Jersey right outside Philadelphia, I was practically a city girl. This all changed when I met my fiancée, Jasen. He showed me the country way and I never turned back. I loved listening to him and his dad swap stories of their awesome adventures, and I was curious as to why hunting was such a passion for them. So I begged to be taken out on one of Jasen’s hunts. One unseasonably warm January day, Jasen took me out to experience my first deer hunt. As the doe slowly walked under our tree stand, my heart was racing even though I was not the one pulling the trigger. He slowly raised the muzzleloader and BAM... down she goes. I was hooked! I took the hunters Ed course later that year and since then have harvested pheasant, chukar, groundhog, deer, and turkeys. We purchased my first bow last year, and I successfully harvested a doe on one of my first trips out with it. Now I am completely obsessed with bow hunting. The last five years of hunting and fishing have been awesome and I look forward to setting new goals each year. I enjoy being in the outdoors, and am just as happy to see a pair of raccoons sneak up on us, or the momma turkeys bring in their babies. I don't even remember my life without hunting being a big part of it. I swear I must have done it in a past life, because I took to it right away. When Jasen was invited to join DTOR, I just went along for the ride and to meet new people. Little did I know that I would also be invited into this amazing group. I never thought of myself as being on camera, but I am learning the ropes along the way, and loving every minute of it. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my hubby. I do make sure I give him his own hunting time too, so he doesn't get sick of me. But I think we work well as a team ("team Berky") and only encourage each other to continue this passion (even if it means buying MORE decoys!)
Currently I work full time in
pharmaceutical research and am going to school to get my
Master’s part time. It does not leave a lot of time for me to
hunt, so I enjoy the few times I do get out, and try to make the
most out of each experience. I look forward to working with DTOR
and hope to capture each of these treasured hunting moments with
you.
