John Peterson
While John is new to the Drop Tine team, he is not new to hunting. He brings to the team over 25 years of hunting and outdoor experience. John first became interested in hunting while taking an archery class during his freshman year at Woodbridge High School. He started hunting shortly after in the Northern part of the State on vast public lands. He harvested his first buck in the Delaware Water Gap with a borrowed shotgun. To this day John still hunts with the same group of guys that he started his hunting adventures with but their hunting grounds have slowly moved south to the Farmlands of Somerset and Hunterdon Counties.
John is an all-around hunter who uses a shotgun, muzzleloader and archery tackle to chase whitetail deer and turkeys. He also enjoys bird hunting over one of his three labrador retrievers and has tried his hand at predator hunting. His passion rests in bow hunting where he likes the challenge of outwitting the keen senses of the whitetail deer along with the peace and solitude of just sitting on stand and enjoying all that nature has to offer
John naturally gravitated to filming, as he likes to challenge himself. On his first time out with the camera he successfully self filmed a turkey hunt from a ground blind. He looks forward to capturing his hunts on film, and spending time alongside fellow sportsman helping them document their adventures for a lifetime of enjoyment
John and his wife Melissa live in Middlesex County and have one son. His fondest hunting memory was 8 years ago, helping his son (age 10 at the time) harvest a turkey only within a couple hundred yards of where his own hunting journey began with that borrowed shotgun. His son went on to harvest several nice deer, which now hang in the family room alongside Dad’s trophies.
