Jason Kalafut

I’d like to share with you a bit about myself and how I got to where I am today. At the age of eighteen, I purchased my first Martin Bow, however at this point I was not sure on the first step to taking it out deer hunting. It was that winter, a cold snowy day, one that would chill you to the bone, when my brother shot a doe and called me up to bring me along and show me how to gut and process the animal after the harvest. Only two seasons later and my passion for the sport growing intensely, there I stood over a beautiful NJ 9 point buck that I proudly took with my bow. Since that day, my growing passion for the outdoors and the sport of hunting has turned into an outright addiction.

Shortly there after I found myself in my mid twenties and free, where I enrolled myself in an outfitting school with Pikes Peak Outfitters out of Colorado. This was an experience I wouldn‘t change for the world as it soon lead me to Alaska where I worked for an outfit for several months and then back to Pikes Peak where I was hired as a wrangler.

I would like to take these experiences and this ever growing passion I have discovered and pass them onto others. I would like to involve my nephews and nieces in any way I can and hopefully even some day my own kids. When I sit back and think about the path I have lead so far, I can’t help but extend an enormous thank you to my parents for all they have given me.

Now, two bows later and the age of 32 I sit here with a good friend of mine Tom Petry. A man who has taught me quite a few lessons in life and someone who I look up to. I look forward to the future of Drop Tine and my involvement with the rest of the crew as well as the future of Sunset Ridge Outfitters.
